Job Description:

TRINITY UNIVERSITY, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION is seeking a Lecturer, beginning July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be an experienced, collaborative and equity-minded educational leader responsible for teaching courses across educational leadership topics and experienced in preparing aspiring school leaders. As a member of the educational leadership team and department, our colleague will help shape and implement our leadership preparation program that impacts the broader educational landscape in San Antonio and Bexar County. They will coordinate internship experiences, lead curricular development and implementation, and manage our coaching component. In addition, the Lecturer will provide administrative and programmatic support for the master's in educational leadership program, as well as a coordinating role for the Center for Educational Leadership, which focuses on developing leadership and professional development programs and opportunities for educators across South Texas

BACKGROUND

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the Department of Education and at Trinity University as a full-time faculty member in the role of Lecturer

  • Coordinate and support program development and improvement (including curriculum reviews, program design, internship coordination, school partnership-building, and outreach with educational organizations) for the Master of Educational Leadership (MEdL) program.

  • Develop and implement a recruitment plan for the MEdL program's annual cohort from among the San Antonio school districts and organizations, across the greater Bexar County area/region, and from a broadly representative and diverse group of districts, schools, and organizations.

  • Recruit, prepare and orient mentors prior to the start of internship activities and experiences, including team and relationship building with leadership coaches.

  • Develop and implement a framework and model for preparing aspiring leaders via internship and intensive learning experiences.

  • Monitor, assess, and evaluate the MEdL curriculum and internship experiences for compliance with Texas state standards for principal certification.

  • Design and teach 6 courses per year in the Department of Education,

  • Advise MEdL graduate students on principal certification requirements, internship expectations, and career development.

  • Mentor and advise MEdL graduate students on their academic and professional journeys, internships, and capstone projects.

  • Support, develop and coordinate professional development programming, including principal and aspiring educational leader programs, as a member of the Center for Educational Leadership (CEL) leadership team.

  • Represent the MEdL program and CEL at events, and during outreach and partnership building efforts.

  • Participate as a team member and assist in the dissemination of CEL research findings and best practices through workshops, publications, and presentations at national and international conferences.

  • Assist the Director in conceptualizing and preparing proposals and securing external funding and resources, including grants and partnerships with educational foundations, to support the MEdL and CEL initiatives.

  • Assist with managing programmatic and operational budgets.

  • Other duties as assigned.

APPOINTMENT DETAILS

This position will be a 12-month appointment because the program has summer, fall and spring terms.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Required: A terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience in school leadership, instructional leadership, and/or supervising of educators, including at least seven years in educational leadership, in such roles as principal, executive level administrator, program director and/or similar positions.

  • Experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students, particularly in educational leadership programs.

Preferred:

  • Experience in program development and compliance with TEA certification requirements.

  • Experience with grant writing and securing external funding for educational initiatives.

  • Track record of conducting educational research and contributing to academic publications.

Knowledge/ Skills /Abilities

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of successfully leading in diverse school and community settings, and of implementing inclusive practices.

  • A clearly articulated social justice leadership philosophy and record, and experience utilizing transformative leadership strategies.

  • Excellent technology skills, including proficiency with word processing, database management, spreadsheets, data visualization and communication technologies, including learning management systems and online instructional platforms.

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Evidence of strong communication skills, including excellent writing, editing, and presentation abilities.

  • Demonstrated ownership of work and evidence of initiative-taking in prior roles.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Required: Texas Educator and administrative certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

In addition to the university, this person will work in schools and community contexts. Driving to sites is necessary. In-person coaching and collaboration with community partners is expected.
