About the role:

As a Manager QC Mechanical Operations you will lead our Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility's inspection groups engaged in inspection activities to ensure control over materials and products. You will provide leadership to ensure quality control methods and procedures are employed to identify potentially defective product. You will take a lead role in mentoring, developing leaders and teams while resolving problems and implementing best practices in the Quality Control organization.

You will report to the Manager of Product Assurance and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support the role 100% onsite


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage the Quality Control mechanical inspection processes with focus on critical to fuel reliability attributes and control plans with necessary short interval control methods.



  • Guide continuous improvements in Quality Control methods and techniques using a structured approach.



  • Approve procedures required for all Quality Control inspection operations to assure that they are technically correct, reviewed by license, and following established policy and the requirements of regulatory agencies.



  • Assure that all operations and measurements are performed so that they meet the requirements of the NRC License and the requirements of other regulatory bodies having jurisdiction.



  • Use trouble shooting, cause analysis, test method development, sampling strategies, and other statistical tools to identify and categorize product or materials potentially not meeting requirements.



  • Ensure control processes are implemented to contain product or materials potentially not meeting requirements.



  • Lead process related continuous improvement activities for enhancing our Quality Control capabilities.



  • Ensure tracking and trending methods are deployed to identify recurring non-conformances and ensure process control.



  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Operations Engineering and Manufacturing leaders to identify potential areas of process variability.



  • Provide technical leadership, counsel and support to staff for technological/engineering advancement.



  • Promote and arrange for training of staff and ensure that levels of guidance and direction are provided. Manage and document employee performance and implement responsive actions.



  • Establish and meet financial commitments.



  • Lead a team of supervisors




Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree with either technical or business focus or combination of education and experience to meet equivalent requirements.



  • 5 years management experience.



  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing preferred.



  • Use Quality Control methods and applications to identify quality issues encountered by internal and external customers.



  • Use process data to identify areas for improvements in Quality Control methods. Apply a structured Lean approach to implement Quality Control process improvements that enhance detection and containment methods for potential product and material defects
