Overview

A Clinical Laboratory Genetic Counselor II assists in the clinical review of samples and reports, provides product specific expertise to healthcare providers, and collaborates with internal groups to support the laboratory testing process.

Responsibility



  1. Perform clinical data review during the report review process (Science Review).
  2. Support healthcare provider inquiries related to testing.
  3. Assist heathcare providers in the identification of clinically appropriate tests and follow up.
  4. Work with all departments to ensure the highest quality clinical test results for all patient samples, including the timely identification and resolution of issues.
  5. Maintain familiarity with the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  6. Maintain continuing education credits as required by CLIA.
  7. Maintain ABGC certification.
  8. Receive and maintain genetic counseling licensure in home state and CA, if applicable.
  9. Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  10. Perform specific duties assigned based on the genetic counselor's interests and expertise.
  11. Conduct other duties delegated or defined by the CLIA lab director.


Qualifications



  1. ABGC-certified genetic counselor with at least two years of clinical experience.
  2. Professional and detail oriented.
  3. Proficient with O365.
  4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
