Organization: Y-12 Prod. Planning & Controls (50001423)

What You'll Do

The Manufacturing Modeling & Analytics Manager is a technical leader and integrator within the Manufacturing and Quality organizations at Y-12.

This individual is responsible for overseeing the development and maintaining advanced Simio simulation models that replicate real-world manufacturing processes, production lines, equipment interactions, inspection flows, and work-in-progress (WIP) dynamics. Model enhancements and refinements are expected for CI efforts.

These models are not just theoretical tools, they serve as live, data-driven platforms that forecast performance, assess constraints, and inform decision-making across programs, production teams, and leadership.

These simulations support not only production scheduling and task sequencing but also help identify bottlenecks, evaluate resource constraints, and test alternative operational strategies under various "what-if" conditions.

Beyond technical execution, the Manufacturing Modeling & Analytics Manager serves as a key contributor to Y-12's broader transformation agenda. The role is instrumental in laying the groundwork for a Factory Digital Twin, a living digital replica of manufacturing systems that will enable real-time analysis, prescriptive decision-making, and predictive maintenance. The Manager partners with engineers, planners, and quality personnel to align models with baseline production plans, recovery plans, and throughput targets, ensuring synchronization between physical operations and digital planning environments.

The position involves overseeing the Manufacturing Analytics work scope for Y-12. This includes the implementation of cutting edge data analytics software, integration of analytics tools in the planning and execution of work, and the design and deployment of industry standard data visualization and performance metrics.

To succeed in this role, the candidate must be adept at systems thinking, possess strong modeling acumen, and have a working knowledge of how enterprise data supports real-world manufacturing decisions. Experience in SAP integration, discrete-event simulation, business analytics, data visualization, Lean Six Sigma principles, and continuous improvement practices are highly valuable. Familiarity with VV&A standards and reliability frameworks such as PMEI (People, Material, Equipment, Information) ensures model integrity and credibility at every level of analysis. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, data, and operations. It is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to mission success while being at the forefront of modern manufacturing innovation in a high-impact, national security environment.
