Assistant Linen Services - Full Time - Days - Grosse Pointe Woods

Must be comfortable with manual labor. The carts that you will be transporting (clean & soiled) are about 600 lbs. on average, 2 carts at a time. Loading the linen exchange carts requires lifting, bending and pulling 20 to 40 lbs, of linen and at some of our hospitals have almost 40 carts to load daily. The position requires walking for long periods of time throughout the day.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Collects washes and/or distributes clean linens and apparel for assigned clinical areas.

Responsibilities:

• Collects and sorts soiled linens and apparel for assigned areas. Stocks and distributes clean linens and apparel, adhering to infection control guidelines.
• Performs daily inventory to ensure clean linens and apparel are accurately stocked and distributed. Identifies items for repair or replacement and notifies management.
• Washes, dries or folds laundered linens and apparel, Identifying items for repair or replacement and notifies management.
• Operates all laundry equipment according to operating instructions and departmental policies.|
• Maintains work area and equipment in clean, working condition.
