THE POSITION

Join the Wayne County Area Agency on Aging in this Aging Case Aide 2 role and help participants in our Adult Daily Living Center & Senior Day Center programs to complete personal care tasks and find the resources they need to live more productive, safe, and happy lives while maintaining as much independence as possible. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assist our community members at the Adult Daily Living and Senior Center in Hawley, Pennsylvania through wide variety of duties. Your effective organization, empathy, interpersonal communication skills, and adherence to procedures will be vital in fulfilling these duties and enhancing the well-being and independence of our program participants. Responsibilities at the Adult Daily Living Center will include providing routine non-professional care assistance for consumers with significant cognitive and/or physical disabilities, to support their daily activities and well-being. Your responsibilities will include personal care assistance, health monitoring, rehabilitative support, nutritional assistance, facilitating recreational activities, ensuring safety and supervision, and adhering to care plans and safety protocols.

Additional duties at the Hawley Senior Center include providing practical services to participants and supporting community engagement in our programs. This includes providing health insurance counseling, assisting with various service applications, arranging transportation, conducting classes, and serving meals. You will also provide outreach to encourage participation, organize activities and events, attend meetings to share information, maintain informational displays, utilize computer systems for data management, collect donations, oversee volunteers, and help at other centers when needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are flexible in scheduling and will involve duties in two settings: the Senior Center and the Adult Daily Living Center in Hawley, Pennsylvania.
  • Employee may have overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or
  • Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. A physical and tuberculosis test are required.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
