Position Overview:The Maintenance, Systems & Buildings Technician is responsible for performing various tasks both inside and outside of the facility, utilizing mechanical, industrial, construction and electrical expertise. This role also maintaining and enhancing existing building systems and support equipment, including system upgrades and equipment commissioning or decommissioning.
Key responsibilities include working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment essential to DigiKey's operations. The Technician collaborates daily with other Technicians, Engineers, and third-party contractors, and reports to the Senior Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager. This demanding position requires a broad knowledge of diverse equipment and systems.
This is considered an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance.
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.
Responsibilities:
Perform all maintenance systems and building tasks/ responsibilities to meet high quality standards Maintain Dematic automation equipment and support equipment including but not limited to auto bagging machine, banding machines, MSL Sealer, tape machines, Fire system, forklifts, PIV, foam machines, robots and other equipment within Digikey facilities. Trouble shoot system faults while keeping systems operational and maintaining a safe work environment. Provide tech support on equipment that is being used by PDCe and PDC, working with 3rd party vendors as necessary either in person or over the phone, computer to properly repair the equipment that is faulty Perform daily maintenance of buildings & grounds including but not limited toLawn care, snow removal, parking lot maintenance, and any other maintenance needed Assist in trouble shooting HVAC systems, plumbing, building construction and electrical systems. Maintain /test all fire systems ,working with 3rd party contractors when necessary Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment. Be involved in mechanical strip down and reassembly of equipment include basic wiring, mechanical calibration, system testing of processes as needed to ensure systems are functioning properly. Utilize appropriate health and safety considerations regarding given tasks and carrying out risk assessments. Execute site quality, safety and standard procedures Assist in doc writing for department procedures Create strong working relationships with other departments within Digikey and 3rd party contractors to enable first class service. Provide training pertaining for new or upgraded tools and equipment to users as needed Trouble shooting PLC and control systems. Ability to work over the phone to with remote technician to troubleshoot system issues. During a high stress situation follow set up instructions and check lists, show accountability by taking ownership over your results. Create, follow, close out and assign workorders through electronic management system. Keep knowledge current on equipment and maintenance tasks, attend, and possibly travel for trainings as necessary Communicate status, progress, issues and be able to hand off work effectively between shifts when needed. May be required to work overtime or on weekends with the need to travel to other DigiKey locations or training occasionally Act as a SME for for internal and external audits Operate and understand the functions of Generators. Log Emissions data from Generators to submit to EPA for monthly reports Assist with Hazardous waste removal, storage and disposal. Work with DK insurance company to make sure DigiKey in compliant with insurance requirements May need to do building and security checks after regular hours as needed/requested
. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred 2+Years of experience with maintenance, construction, mechanical, or other relevant experience Ability to operate all equipment the is owned or leased by DigiKey. Ability to operate hand and power tools to assemble and dissemble equipment. Ability to interpret and work with blue prints. Hands on, team-oriented commitment to continuous improvement Exceptional people skills, with ability to gain and maintain trust and confidence with individuals within and outside DigiKey. Proficiency in using computer and diagnostic programs, hand tools, and power Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Must be able to acquire certification for Forklift, PIV and all Powered equipment within 6 months of start in role Being mindful of where to save cost with time management or materials. Annual training to make sure team understands and is able to conduct job functions efficiently and safely Willing to learn and adapt to change of role requirements or business needs. Experience with equipment maintenance, and modification design Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to unknown situations that may arise day to day.

Generally, spend 7+ hours walking, or standing at a workstation and operation various machines, building, or computer devices such as but not limited to keyboard, mouse, and screen.Able to twist, bend and occasional climb stairs. Able to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level. Ability to lift 40 lbs. from floor to shoulder height Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. alone
Compensation:
The starting base pay rate for this position is: $24.40
