We have an exciting opportunity for a Workday Business System Analyst at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, Illinois office.

The Workday Business System Analyst is responsible for developing and managing custom reports and dashboards within Human Capital Management (HCM) for UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement organizations. The analyst initiates business as usual type changes and develops reports and dashboards that provide insights and data analysis to support decision-making and meet the reporting needs of the organizations.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Workday Business System Analyst, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Design, develop, test, and implement custom Workday reports and dashboards using tools such as Report Writer, Report Designer, and Prism Analytics.

  • Translate business requirements into accurate, actionable reports by understanding data sources and stakeholder needs.

  • Generate and analyze HR data and metrics to provide insights that support strategic decision-making.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, such as managers, HCM teams, or executives, to understand their reporting needs and translate them into meaningful reports and dashboards.

  • Ensure report accuracy and data integrity through regular reviews, updates, and adherence to data governance best practices.

  • Stay current with Workday updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies to enhance reporting capabilities and leverage new features, ensuring the integrity and security of data used in reports and dashboards.

  • Validate and reconcile data from multiple sources to maintain reliability and consistency.

  • Create and maintain documentation for report specifications and processes; provide training and user guides to support report usage.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, IT, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, align reporting with organizational goals, and ensure clear communication for issue resolution and progress updates.

  • Document and execute routine HR-related requests adhering to standard change control processes.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, calculated fields, and visualization using HCM reporting tools- (e.g., Workday Report Writer, Report Designer, Prism Analytics).

  • Strong understanding of HCM business processes and data structures.

  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.

  • Strong qualitative and analytical capabilities with advanced Excel skills.

  • Understanding of data governance principles and best practices.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Workday Report Writer, Report Designer, Prism Analytics) is a plus.

  • Prior experience with Workday is required.

  • In-depth knowledge of HR processes, policies, and regulations.
