The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient centeredPRNStaff Nurseto work in ourQuad Cities Urgent Care Clinics.Our Urgent Care Staff Nursesare responsible for caring for a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric. Their primary job duties include (but are not limited to) rooming, medication administration, lab collection and processing. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages team work to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients.This position will mainly support our Quad Cities location but could also travel to other clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours. Duties to include:
- Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
- Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
- Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
- Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
- Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
- Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
- Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.

Percent of Time:PRN (minimum 20-24 hours per month) Schedule:Variable hours Monday - Friday 7:00am - 9:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 7:00am - 7:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays, no on call, completed primarily as three 12-hour shifts Location:Bettendorf, IA and Davenport, IA and surrounding cities (travel to other clinics based on clinical needs/hours)
Qualifications -
Education
- An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN), Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leaderora Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
- Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
- General computer skills are required.
- Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (within 60 days of hire)
- Current course completion card in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.
- Current course completion card in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.
