Job Description

Job Title: Header/Flasher Machine Operator for 3rd Shift

We offer a 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour.

Summary Assist in the safe production of quality products by ensuring steel ball grinding machines are properly running. This includes loading materials, performing quality check, and trouble-shooting machines.

Starting Wage: $19.00

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At ANBM, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Must be able to operate hoist/crane. (Capacity -2.5 ton.)
  • Perform daily inspections of crane and header machine
  • Load 2-ton coil.
  • Point wire end, feed wire through to wire draw machine to header machine.
  • Inspect Wire. (Before feed/After feed).
  • Do Tooling adjustments, run machine to make samples.
  • Perform quality check of steel ball. (Use point micrometer, microscope, etching procedure).
  • Fill out daily production report.
  • Use barcode system to issue wire on machine & do completions.
  • Use Hand jack/Forklift to transport material.
  • Perform Tooling change- Quill, Cutter, Heading die, Finger change
  • Type change for different size.
  • Perform machine trouble shooting and maintenance on machine.
  • Turn on Coolant, Air, and Mist collector.
  • Must run up to three header machines per shift.
  • Perform cleaning and 5S tasks.
  • This list is not inclusive; other job-related tasks may be assigned.



Education and/or Experience



  • On average, this job requires 8 to 12 weeks of on-the-job training with an experienced trainer to acquire specific job skills. Exact training time depends upon a person's experience, abilities, and role to be learned (assembler, grinder, turning operator).
  • This job requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of computerized machines, gauges, and hand tools.
  • Able to safely operate forklift and hand jack for material movement.
  • General knowledge of material handling, manufacturing processes, quality control systems
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and decimals.
  • Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Respond promptly to a sound or light signal when it occurs.
  • Concentrate on a task over several minutes without being distracted.
  • Arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern.
  • Physically move objects safely by using proper lifting techniques.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Bump caps, steel toe safety shoes, and safety glasses are required in all production areas. Hearing protection is encouraged and may be required in specific areas.

Physical Demands




  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazards common to industrial settings; chemicals, vibration, and loud noises.
  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves and bump caps for this position must be worn on the production floor. Other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
  • Jobs on the production floor require a minimum 40-hour work week. Overtime may be required.
  • The pace of work is steady and fast.
  • Employees are regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires sufficient vision to see details at close range, so the person can pass an inspection test of finished parts and components.
