Position Summary:

The department of Chemistry within the College of Engineering, Mathematics & Science seeks a Lecturer to instruct undergraduate courses. This is a full-time, 9-month position, with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2025. Teaching duties include preparing course materials, developing syllabi, teaching both classroom and activity-based courses, preparing, administering, and grading of exams and assignments, and holding office hours.

Responsibilities:



  • The successful candidate is expected to excel in teaching at the first-year undergraduate level. Additional responsibilities include holding appropriate office hours, responding to student and colleague email, and performing the required duties of course administration. This includes development of syllabi, grading, lab set-up and cleanup, course preparation and management, assessment and reporting tasks.
  • Serve as initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations, and demonstrate responsibility and responsiveness to the needs of the students and department.
  • Contribute to department meetings, projects, or initiatives in a collaborative manner with faculty and staff to achieve departmental goals.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the department.

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Chemistry or closely related field.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in classroom and laboratory teaching.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and responsiveness to the needs of the students and department.
  • Great time management skills to maximize teaching and other duties assigned.
  • Able to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to achieve department goals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
