Position Title Dental Hygiene Sterilization Assistant
FLSA Non-Exempt
FT/PT Part Time
Hours Per Week 25-30
Work Schedule Flexible: Tuesday-Thursday
Position Salary Range $25.00-$27.00
General Responsibilities
Dental Assistant Job Description
* Sterilize all dental hygiene instruments and hand pieces according to OSHA regulations.
* Assist the program's clinical coordinator with the implementation of the preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipment.
* Assisting receptionist with front desk duties as needed.
* Help keep the clinic and reception area neat and tidy.
* Assist with preparation of dental operatories for start of semester and help with clinic check out at the end of the semester.
* Assist with stocking and movement of supplies
* Assist the clinical coordinator with implementation of MSDS labeling for all products.
* Keep dental units ready, stocked, organized and clean.
* Other duties as assigned.
Work Performed

  • Sterilization of dental hygiene instruments.
  • Maintenance of dental hygiene equipment.
  • Perform various spore testing.

Minimum Education Required High School or equivalent
Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 1
Other Knowledge Required
EDUCATION
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Graduate of accredited dental assisting program or dental assisting experience preferred.
* Coursework in OSHA and Infection Control policies and procedures.
* Coursework in dental instruments and procedures.
* Commitment to CE for career development.
* Certification in CPR: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider.

SKILLS
* Excellent organizational skills
* Able to maintain quality infection control standards and OSHA guidelines.
* Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other staff members and community
* Effective verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff
* Knowledge in Dexis and Dentrix is helpful.
