Architectural Metals (Metals) is a segment within Apogee that is a provider of aluminum windows, curtainwall (soon to be retired), storefront and entrance systems. We offer an integrated set of capabilities including design, engineering, extrusion, finishing, fabrication, and assembly.

Position Summary

Specialize in managing AFS's product data through a formal Product Data Management ("PDM") process. Interface with business users, business analysts and technology team members to determine the most efficient and cost-effective IT approach to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Redesign and continuous improvement of the estimate to factory order release cycle, utilizing configuration software.

  • Create detailed technical specifications from functional specifications/requirements. Develop realistic estimates that will be used as input to determine overall costs.

  • Determine, develop, and implement relevant business process changes, integration needs, and deployment methods for configuration software.

  • Determine the business needs and develop the required product structure and models within the configuration software environment.

  • Determine the business needs and develop the computerized file structure, estimate and factory order release methodology, and data archive structure for managing product data.

  • Determine and develop the direction for the next generation of product data and technical processes.

  • Develop and implement standards for all applicable Product Data Management areas.

  • Become an expert/teaching mentor with configuration software and product data.

  • Be accountable for all data entered into the product configuration system.

  • Participates in AFS's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and/or 4 to 6 plus years related experience with AFS product development.

Experience:

  • Design software or parametric modeling experience and project management experience in a manufacturing environment are desired.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Proficiency in the following:

    • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

    • CAD

    • ERP

    • Visual Studio .NET

    • Source Code Control

    • SQL Server
