PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX. It is part of the Pemex group, a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics, and marketing. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day and has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. The Pemex site is co-located with other 3rd party chemical facilities, allowing for further integration and optimization of the refinery and its products. As the Rotating Equipment Team Lead, you will be the primary point of contact for all rotating equipment-related matters across the PEMEX Deer Park Capital Projects portfolio, including approximately 175 projects. You will provide technical assurance for all phases of project execution—ranging from design and specification through procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning—by applying your technical expertise and coordinating with engineering contractors, suppliers, and internal and external technical resources. You will lead and manage a team consisting of a full-time Rotating Equipment Inspector and a contract Rotating Equipment Engineer, ensuring the team is appropriately staffed to meet project demands and deliver quality results throughout the project lifecycle.

 

To succeed as the Rotating Equipment Team Lead, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required.
  • Minimum 10 years in rotating equipment engineering within oil & gas, refining, or petrochemical industries, with strong field, troubleshooting, and construction support experience.
  • Proficiency in industry codes/standards; capable of specifying, designing, procuring, and commissioning rotating equipment; team management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and TWIC required.

 

Your responsibilities as the Rotating Equipment Team Lead will also include:        

  • Lead Technical Assurance for rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, auxiliaries) throughout all project phases: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Manage Standards and Team by developing engineering standards and leading a small team of engineers and inspectors to support project execution.
  • Specify and Evaluate Equipment in compliance with industry codes and project needs, including quality control and supplier selection.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functionally with other engineering disciplines and third-party resources to ensure integrated equipment design and implementation.
  • Communicate and align with operations teams and leadership to present project plans, justify decisions, and support safety and reliability objectives.
