Job Description:

At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, you have the opportunity to join a team that manufactures the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. This flagship facility utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques and leverage research and development to support Saab's broad product portfolio. The Saab West Lafayette operation is currently seeking an Associate Technical Writer to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for technical writing assignments involving generation of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Inspection Plans/ Control Plans, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and Material Review Board dispositions (MRBs)

  • Develop strong working knowledge of the quality requirements as defined by customer/industry standards

  • Assist in developing effective controls/solutions to provide high quality products to customers within schedule

  • Assists in non-conformance investigations and material assessments

  • Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support

  • Support other projects and tasks as assigned

Compensation Range: $58,400-$70,100

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Associate Degree in a STEM discipline OR 5 years' experience in an aerospace manufacturing quality role required

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or quality operation is preferred

  • Hands-on experience with ISO9001/AS9100 or IATF16949 Quality Management Systems, testing and inspection methodologies is a plus; specific experience with air structure assembly is a strong plus

  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) is desired

  • Ability to work with and articulate technical product/process requirements associated with electro-mechanical assembly

  • Ability to interpret and revise relevant documentation/work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition is critical

  • Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving

  • Ability to be self-driven and deliver high quality results across a global team

  • Ability to work extended hours when required

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
