Position Summary: As an IT Support Intern, you will receive hands-on experience working to assist our employees with hardware & software support and service requests. You will have exposure to a variety of different technologies and have a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge that will benefit you as you start your career in IT. You will answer queries on basic technical issues and offer advice or escalation to solve them. An excellent Help desk technician must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be customer-oriented and patient supporting our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support
- Act as the first point of contact for Help Desk and assist in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues for end-users to provide both on-site and remote troubleshooting and support.
- Respond to support tickets and escalate unresolved issues to senior IT staff.
- Respond to Help Desk incidents and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- System Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on workstations, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Assist with software updates, patches, and antivirus installations.
- User Assistance
- Provide first-level support for common IT problems via phone, email, or in person.
- Help onboard new employees by setting up accounts, devices, and access permissions.
- Inventory Management
- Track and manage IT assets, including laptops, peripherals, and software licenses.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the IT inventory database.
- Documentation
- Document support procedures, FAQs, and troubleshooting steps.
- Maintain accurate records of support requests and resolutions.
- Project Support
- Assist with IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, or deployments.
- Participate in testing and quality assurance for new systems or applications.
- Security Awareness
- Support the implementation of IT security policies and procedures.
- Help monitor systems for potential security issues or breaches.
- Learning & Development
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance technical skills.
- Train end users on basic use.
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma/GED-General Studies
- Currently enrolled or recently completed Technical Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field
- Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
Experience:
- The ability to multitask; excellent communication skills; Experience of Microsoft Office Suite; Strong troubleshooting skills; Experience working on a Help Desk or providing face to face support.
- Knowledge of Windows based operating systems; Basic knowledge of networking; Working knowledge of business operating systems.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner; Ability to make decisions with limited information.
- Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 application suite preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 25/50 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands. Must be able to crawl underneath desks to route cabling and power.

Work Environment:
This is a non-smoking, professional manufacturing shop with normal lighting and climate control. This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.

Protective Clothing Required:
When in certain locations of the facility, eye and ear protection are required. Closed-toed/ Slip resistant shoes are also required in certain locations.
