OVERVIEW: The Key Account Manager will serve as the primary liaison between customers and Tenneco's Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance teams. This role is pivotal in managing commercial issues and identifying new business opportunities for Tenneco's Champion Ignition business group, specifically focusing on heavy-duty customers. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer Relationship Management: Act as the main point of contact for customers, ensuring their requirements are met and maintaining strong relationships.
- Business Development: Identify and propose new business opportunities in collaboration with Application Engineering.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies, annual sales plans, and long-term forecasts.
- Market Analysis: Evaluate Tenneco's competitive position and market share, providing insights to the Sales Director.
- Quotation Management: Handle RFQ processes, prepare and submit quotations, and negotiate contracts.
- Project Support: Assist in special projects, corporate activities, and new acquisitions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments including Sales, Application Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Logistics.
- Cost & Price Management: Identify cost reduction opportunities and ensure profitability of all parts delivered to customers.
- Pricing Strategy & Communication: Manage customer expectations around pricing, including cost recovery, red ink recovery, and strategic profit enhancements initiatives.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on new business awards, market trends, pricing, and customer program status.
- Travel: Travel occasionally required (up to 25%) including both domestic and international. Additional travel may occasionally be required based on business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, business administration, or similar required; or significant relevant experience in the Automotive/Heavy Duty Vehicles industry.
- Experience: 5-8 years in the Automotive/Heavy Duty Vehicles industry required.
- Skills:
- Strong computer skills (i.e.: MS Office) required.
- Proficient in English required; Spanish/bilingual is a plus.
- Working knowledge of engines and technical systems required. Heavy Duty Vehicles industry strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills required.
- Ability to work across multiple functional groups and locations required
