This position is responsible for building and repairing railroad track and other railroad related tasks. Employee will operate straight, or articulated rubber-tired tractor type vehicle equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket, forklift, medium duty type section truck, backhoe, skid loader, wheel loader, on and off-track excavator, double axel roto on track dump truck, ballast regulator (set up for snow removal) tie crane, ballast regulator track tamper tie inserter spiker and spike puller.

The typical schedule is 7am-4pm (M-F). Pay starts at $22.35 and up, depending on experience.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



  1. Up to one-month related experience or training.
  2. Must have a Class A CDL license.
  3. Must be able to qualify as valid worker under FRA standards.
  4. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  5. Must be able to obtain DOT medical card.
  6. Ensure FRA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance including attending training.


DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Maintain right of way.
  2. Build new railroad track.
  3. Use different machines to accomplish railroad related tasks.
  4. Help preform maintenance on machines.
  5. Laying out rail, tie and other track materials.
  6. Snow removal.
  7. Clearing vegetation.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
