The Opportunity:

Join our dynamic Planning, Design, and Construction team as a University Landscape Architect at the University of Central Florida (UCF). This position is responsible for developing and implementing the Campus Landscape Master Plan, and cultivating the landscape, hardscape, exterior furniture, exterior signage/wayfinding, and overall aesthetics of the university's outdoor spaces. This includes the planning, design, implementation, and oversight of exterior projects to create visually appealing, functional, maintainable, and sustainable landscapes that enhance the campus environment and support the university's mission and goals.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead the development and ongoing refinement of the Campus Landscape Master Plan and exterior design standards in collaboration with the University Architect, division leadership, and campus partners.

  • Plan, prioritize, and manage the implementation of landscape and hardscape projects in alignment with the master plan, campus aesthetic, and available funding.

  • Design and prepare drawings, specifications, and proposals for exterior improvements, including planting plans, hardscapes, irrigation, outdoor furniture, lighting, signage, and wayfinding, emphasizing sustainability and environmental stewardship.

  • Oversee consultants and external professionals-including landscape architects, engineers, and contractors-through all phases of project execution, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule compliance using the university's project management system.

  • Coordinate with internal departments, including Landscape and Natural Resources and Stormwater Compliance, to ensure project alignment with maintenance operations and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in campus planning committees and engage stakeholders to gather feedback and promote alignment with institutional goals.

  • Stay current with best practices, trends, and technologies in landscape architecture through research and active involvement in professional organizations.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information. Professional Landscape Architectural License (PLA) required.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 4+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, with a proven track record in managing and executing large-scale or complex landscape projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including experience with project budgeting, cost estimation, and designer/contractor coordination.

  • Expertise in developing and implementing sustainable, aesthetically compelling landscape designs to include plant palettes and green infrastructure solutions, with a strong emphasis on creativity, visual appeal, and functional performance.

  • Proven experience working effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers.

  • Outstanding analytical skills to assess environmental factors, evaluate project requirements, and develop innovative and practical design solutions.

  • Commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship, with experience integrating green infrastructure and low-impact development techniques into landscape designs.

  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to landscape architecture and environmental standards.

  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, as well as landscape design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp).

  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other digital design and analysis tools.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting design concepts and project updates to stakeholders, clients, and decision-makers.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $89,076 to $122,480. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

Position requires a valid Class E driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
