Consider joining Thresholds by becoming a Cafeteria Attendant in our Young Adult Program! The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for providing a clean, welcoming atmosphere in which students at Thresholds High School can eat lunch while ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations outlined by the agency. Working at Thresholds means making a difference in someone's life every day. For decades, Thresholds has provided mental health and substance use services in Chicago that give hope to those who need it most.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Serve meals to members, ensuring that each member is offered a lunch containing at least three of the four nutrition components.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of items for bagged lunches, and prepare bagged lunches as needed.
  • Keep kitchen and cafeteria area clean, including wiping down all surfaces, etc.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of items such as plates, plastic silverware, and coffee supplies.
  • Monitor and track the number of meals served each day.
  • Monitor and track food temperatures and refrigerator temperatures.
  • Order and pick up food items for parties and special events including food service as needed.
  • Assist with monitoring members' behavior, ensuring that the rules and procedures of the program are followed.
  • Complete daily production reports and general documentation as needed.
  • Wash, dry, and fold laundry for kitchen.
  • Clean and maintain storage and office space above the kitchen.
  • Clean out refrigerators throughout the building.
  • Check all coffee pots daily to turn them off and clean them.
  • May be required to engage members in tasks associated with meal planning, preparation, and clean up as prescribed by individual service plans.


EDUCATION



  • High School diploma or GED is required.


EXPERIENCE



  • Prior experience working with persons with mental illness or other disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food items and ability to interact with customers to answer questions and to promote food offerings.
  • Previous customer service experience in the hospitality industry is preferred.


SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS



  • Food Safety Manager Certificate
  • Food Allergen Certificate
