JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Flow Acoustics department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking highly a motivated undergraduate student to work within a team environment on research and engineering opportunities to assist with building and conducting aero-acoustic and boundary layer receptivity testing in a flow-through anechoic chamber.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A Junior or Senior in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with engineering lab test equipment and assembly tools.
  • LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python, CAD, LaTeX and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design, analysis tools, signal processing, and/or physical modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work through a difficult problem, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution.

Successful candidates will work 40 hours/week over the summer and up to 10 hours/week during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semester.

You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
