Job Purpose

Write, illustrate, and control work instructions and other documents that describe how to build EnerSys products for production floor workers using a variety of software tools, digital photography, research and observation techniques. As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will conduct business according to the details of your job description and the employee manual, with a commitment to continuous improvement and respect for people.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Provide documentation support to the manufacturing floor as required.
Write and illustrate detailed step-by-step work instructions that incorporate solid model illustrations, digital images, schematics, final inspection information, etc. per work instruction standard work.
Ensure accurate control of work instructions to support the Company's quality management system requirements.
Update documentation to reflect changes per Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Documentation Change/Creation Requests.
Follow style standards for work instructions. Ensure the writing style of work instructions is simple, clear, concise, grammatically correct, and written for the intended audience and purpose.
Proof reading work instructions by following departmental procedures to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
Troubleshoot assembly and documentation issues by conducting research and consulting with engineering when required.
Assist other team members as needed to learn new skills and produce quality documents.
Lead/participate in continuous improvement activities.
Support continuous improvement efforts with the team and promote healthy, respectful communications.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma required.
Minimum one year of experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
Minimum one year document control and technical writing experience preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office suite, specifically Word and Power Point preferred.
Understanding of CAD systems such as SolidWorks, E-drawings, and SAP or other ERP systems preferred.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn technical concepts and applications required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarization with ISO management systems is preferred
General Job Requirements

The incumbent will work in a combination of an office environment, at a desk with a computer workstation, as well as work in the manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for periods of time and stand or move about the facility. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, and lift under 10 pounds.

While in the production area, employees may be exposed to occupational hazards including, but not limited to, high noise levels, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, etc. Where required, must wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and footwear and follow all safety practices. The temperature in the production facility fluctuates with changing seasons.
