Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform project Engineering for design and execution of various types and sizes of air moving equipment and associated accessories.
- Execute design tasks in collaboration with other members of design team, customers, and stakeholders.
- Evaluate, select, and adapt/modify techniques, procedures, and criteria for fan design in conjunction with other engineering staff.
- Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
- May assist in troubleshooting engineering design and test problems in conjunction with others.
- Research new technology to be used in the development of new products.
- Develop customer and shop drawings and review with stakeholders to obtain approval
- Select drive components for use in design, e.g., Bearings, Couplings, Drive, etc.
- Selection of fastening and assembly techniques. Including:
- Fastener selection
- Welding processes and weld joint design
- Define the Installation, operation, and maintenance of rotating equipment
- Act, live, and behave by TCF Core Values
- Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities may vary based on specific job assignments
- Perform bearing selections, review of shop orders, custom drive selections, etc.
- Perform the following:
- Detailed 2D & 3D Finite Element Stress analysis including weld joints.
- Modal Analysis of Static and stress stiffened fan structure Components.
- Lateral vibration modes and amplitude of damped and un-damped systems.
- Torsional vibration analysis of rotating equipment drivetrain and torsional impulses created by the harmonic energy.
- May support field fan performance testing as needed to validate design
- May perform service work and provide customer support as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS mechanical engineering
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Able to work independently with minimal instruction.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel and general computer usage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in design and/or test engineering in the air moving industry.
- Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) certification.
- Finite Stress Analysis skills
- Knowledge of welding processes, welding symbols and AWS specifications.

- Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
- Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer
- Able to travel to other facilities
- Able to work with shop personnel
As a Design Engineer in our Test lab you will be offered pay of $67,000-$75,000 per year dependent on experience. You will also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus tied to overall performance of the organization.
