What is the Opportunity? Position reports to the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Governance in the GRC Office and will be responsible for reviewing regulatory communications concerning remediation within the GRC program and ensuring the Bank and RBC US/Combined US Operations (CUSO) meets its regulatory requirements and expectations through facilitating meetings with business owners and stakeholders, drafting regulatory responses and overseeing regulatory interactions with respect to remediation within the GRC program. In addition, the position will help support governance/approval related activities across the GRC program. The position will closely coordinate with the the Bank's and RBC US/CUSO's Regulatory Relations and Legal functions. What will you do?
Responsible for driving all GRC activities related to regulatory responses in partnership with stakeholders across the Bank and RBC US/CUSO. Manages the quarterly reporting on regulatory remediation efforts within the Bank and RBC US/CUSO. Support the governance structure and committees with the GRC office across both the Bank and RBC US/CUSO Organizes, leads, and facilitates cross-LOB action plan development in response to regulatory findings. Liaise with the Regulatory Relations office on a regular cadence to ensure alignment of GRC and Regulatory Relations activities across regulatory exams, progress reports, communications and any additional activities, as needed Liaise with Legal/General Counsel office on a regular cadence to ensure alignment of GRC and Legal activities across regulatory exams, progress reports, communications and any additional activities, as needed Manage integrated activities across regulatory response and remediation planning to ensure they are well coordinated, comprehensive and timely Ensure that output from remediation activities has traceability back to root causes and regulatory responses and has proper signoff through appropriate governance channels, as necessary Oversee and coordinate the timeliness and accuracy of responses to regulators, including data requests and responses to exam findings (such as Request Letters, Matters Requiring Attention, etc). Ensure comprehensive analyses of regulatory feedback and expectations, peer practices, underlying issues and their root causes Work with senior leadership (EVPs and SVPs) to identify, discuss, and address emerging regulatory trends that may impact their relevant business operations from a compliance perspective; actively monitor and report on regulatory developments and trends affecting US business platforms. Develops improvement approaches for the GRC Regulatory Affairs & Governance group within the GRC Office that are holistic, focused to understanding business processes and workflow through the Bank and RBC US/CUSO, and improve upon regulatory remediation communications and deliverables. Develops root cause analysis and business case for proposed strategy, technology, staff and structure changes, including cost estimates Provides advanced statistical analysis for business leaders, project teams, and managers as required. In addition, provide basic and advanced measurement approaches and mechanisms to ensure we are managing the process and producing the designed results Manages implementation of major technology programs including design, build, test, deployment and control phases in an agile methodology May include the direct management of consultants The sharing of lessons learned and best practices with others throughout the organization when appropriate
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (Legal Degree is a plus) Minimum 10 years of experience in compliance, risk, legal, regulatory and/or related bank regulatory experience Minimum 7 years leading legal, governance and/or regulatory programs in the financial services industry Deep understanding and proven ability to build relationships with internal and external partners and manage heavy regulatory exam load Strong writing, organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships across the enterprise Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with group's processes. Deep understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and risk management in the financial services industry. The expected salary range for this particular position is $160,000-$250,000 (New York/New Jersey/California), $130,000-$210,000 (Minnesota) depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
