Job Description

General Summary:

The Project Management & Strategic Operations Manager, will be a member of the Office of the CEO and the Disease Strategy Team (DST) Program Office. In this remit, the individual will be responsible for providing centralized operational support for the department and supporting departmental projects as needed. By partnering closely with departmental management, the incumbent develops and maintains operational processes in accordance with /department objectives. The incumbent is also responsible for comprehensive communication, basic project management skills and troubleshoots routine problems through analysis and proficiency in standard procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with department lead on project management of departmental meetings, including but not limited to planning agendas; methodically tracks all actions items, and finds new ways to stay abreast of multi-dimensional tasks

  • Leads multiple departmental projects and supports departmental program/process operations

  • Partners with line manager and other company executives, to ensure alignment and coordination on a wide variety of cross-functional initiatives.

  • Provides input and leads reviewing high-impact executive communications, and other internal and external communications; may include review of presentations for Executive Committee and Board of Directors meetings.

  • Contributes to the best practices of project management and departmental operations to support the continued success and evolution of the department

  • Manages special projects and high-profile cross-functional initiatives, as appropriate

  • Informs line manager and other executive stakeholders of key deadlines, timelines and next steps.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated skill in project planning fundamentals
  • Critical thought partner and proven ability to connect people and ideas to drive outcomes
  • Ability to connect with over divisions and functions throughout Vertex
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities/projects at a given time, ensuring deadlines, and status updates
  • Expertise or specialized knowledge of departmental business acumen
  • Developed communication skills and the ability to synthesize data and information into meaningful insights
  • Very detail oriented and strong project/operation management skills
  • Ability to handle ambiguity

Education and Experience:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree
  • Typically requires 4 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range:

$122,600 - $183,900

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
