Description

The Warehouse & Logistics Manager is accountable for overseeing multi-site warehousing and transportation operations. This role is responsible for leading a team to deliver on safe, efficient, and cost-effective functions. Additionally, they will drive value through strategic plan development and execution in the areas of safety, technology, process improvement, and freight management.

This position will report to the Plant Manager at our Liberty Packaging location in Omaha, Nebraska.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for leading a team across multiple decentralized warehousing & shipping operations. Accountable for developing and executing strategies to drive efficiency between sites, including processes and procedure alignment, establishing and monitoring KPIs, and driving continuous improvement activities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • In partnership with site leadership and EHS teams, develops thoughtful approach to drive safety incidents to zero. Leverage local and corporate incident trend data, identify focus areas, and guide teams through targeted areas of incident reduction. Serve as a key member of the leadership safety committee.
  • Develop standard work for current warehouses, shipping, manufacturing, and ERP technology; ensure staff are trained on processes. Identify and execute opportunities to optimize the use of existing technology. Discover new technology enhancements to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Accountable for overall performance of freight function. Responsible for optimizing shipping lanes, including carrier identification, cost analysis, and monitoring performance against service level agreements and KPIs. In partnership with contracted transport, manage internal shipping performance. In partnership with production scheduling and sales team, achieve maximum trailer utilization.
  • In partnership with sales, operations, and scheduling teams, coordinate ongoing communication and collaboration with customers (both internal and external) to ensure results meet or exceed customer expectations for OTD and quality.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage inventories with emphasis on cycle counting, inventory accuracy, and inventory resolution. Manage weekly, quarterly, and yearly inventory cycle count procedures and drive best practices for sustainability. Oversee inventory controls, returns, product damage, material transactions, and inventory balances.
  • In partnership with plant leadership, accountable for development and maintenance of budgets for locations. Accountable for the preparation of variance reports and for establishing expenditure controls to ensure departments meet or exceed budgeted performance commitments.
  • Responsible for developing and managing talent to support current and future business needs. In partnership with the HR function, leads team through timely and effective execution of cyclical and ad hoc talent processes in the areas of: performance management, coaching, employee development, compensation, talent planning, and employee engagement.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, business management, engineering, or related field AND 4+ years' warehouse and / or distribution management experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years' experience leading transportation/logistics teams
  • Previous experience with freight or fleet management
  • Experience preparing and maintaining departmental budgets
  • Experience developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Previous experience effectively managing time and competing priorities

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with industry-specific software (Amtech, JD Edwards, CTI, DataServ)
  • Experience in corrugated and / or packaging industry
  • Experience presenting information to senior leadership and / or executive teams
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting base salary range for this position is $93,840 - $117,300 per year. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
