JOB SUMMARY

The Human Research Program Manager is responsible for review, management, coordination and promotion of human subject research in the Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) at UTSW. This position works under minimal supervision to direct operation of the program, exercising independent judgment and authority as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree science, healthcare administration, or related field.
  • Experience

  • 4 years related experience in research administration or healthcare with Bachelor's degree.

    Requires advanced PC expertise including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software.
Preferred
  • Education

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience

  • Prior experience related to human subject research.

JOB DUTIES
  • Directs, analyzes, coordinates, and evaluates program operations and procedures of the HRPP at UTSW.
  • Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with internal/external departments and agencies involved in oversight of human subject research.
  • Establishes program goals and objectives and directs program evaluation and quality control activities; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; provides supervision to program staff.
  • Recommends and develops new policies and procedures for improvement of program activities.
  • Plans and coordinates special events. Participates in conferences. Presents data and program information.
  • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Supports research by promoting collaboration among investigators and across disciplines, departments and institutions; organizes meetings, seminars and conferences; manages internal and external communications of the department.
  • Develops and provides educational programs for training and development of investigators, research personnel, and staff as necessary.
  • Reads literature and attends functions to keep abreast of relevant regulatory, scientific and technical developments related to human subject research.
  • Serves on committees as representative of assigned program as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
