Essential Job Duties
NC State University seeks a dynamic and student-focused leader to serve as the Aquatics Coordinator. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the daily operations of the Casey Aquatic Center, a premier facility featuring a 25-yard pool with a dive well and a 50-meter pool. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment, and a passion for fostering student success through exceptional recreational programs, services, and facilities. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Aquatics, the Aquatics Coordinator will empower student staff to achieve world-class results.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management for the daily operations of the Casey Aquatic Center, prioritizing a safe, well-maintained, and effectively staffed environment.
  • Provide significant instruction and development of student employees.
  • Oversee all aspects of risk management, scheduling, event management, equipment maintenance, and strategic financial planning and budgeting for the aquatic center.
  • Collaborate effectively with a wide range of users, including students, members, NC State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving programs, the Health and Exercise Studies academic program, numerous student clubs and organizations, campus partners, youth swim teams, and external groups.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate student staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and university policies.

Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Financial and Risk Management Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing budgets and mitigating risks in an aquatic facility setting.
Collaborative Team Player: Proven ability to collaborate, build partnerships, and contribute effectively to a fast-paced, results-oriented team.
Aquatics Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of national trends and best practices in aquatics facility management.
Student Development Focus: Demonstrated knowledge of theories and practices that promote student development and learning.
Excellent Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership Development: Demonstrated experience in developing and mentoring leaders through practical application and learning opportunities.
Supervisory Experience: Proven success in managing, supervising, and mentoring student employees.
Commitment to Wellness: Passion for promoting healthy and active lifestyles.
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional, internship or graduate assistantship experience in aquatics management.
* Professional experience in aquatics facility management.
Required License or Certification
* Lifeguard Certification.
* Lifeguard Instructor ( LGI) or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
* Water Safety Instructor ( WSI) or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
* Certified Pool Operator ( CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator ( AFO) or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
* Wake County Certified Pool Operator or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
Valid NC Driver's License required No
Commercial Driver's License Required? No
