Hampshire College, part of the Five College Consortium and a leader in progressive liberal arts education, is seeking a creative and resourceful Assistant Director of Institutional Research to help us understand the educational efforts on campus-and why they matter. We're looking for a creative thinker who's not afraid to roll up their sleeves, dig into messy data, ask the right questions, and advance a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across the college. This is an ideal role for someone who sees institutional research not just as reporting, but as storytelling-someone who knows data has the power to shape strategy, uncover opportunities, and inspire action.

The Assistant Director collaborates across departments to lead external reporting, support accreditation and assessment efforts, and uncover insights that guide institutional planning and student success. The role draws on strong analytical skills, but also curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for connecting the dots. We value initiative, good humor, and a willingness to try creative approaches to persistent challenges. Working closely with faculty, staff, and leadership, the Assistant Director ensures that data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with institutional priorities.

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is located on a beautiful rural campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 900 students.
