Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC) is a 100-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital located near the beautiful resort area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a short 10-minute drive to the ocean front. VBPC offers acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults 18 years and older. The hospital is accessible 24 hours a day for admissions, and includes mental health assessments and an excellent referral network. Treatment programs and specialty services at VBPC include substance abuse, dual diagnosis and partial hospitalization. Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center is currently seeking a Pharmacy Tech- Temporary-PRN. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides assistance to the Pharmacist in filling prescriptions and dispensing medications. Enters prescription information and drug history into a data system or other record keeping system; Prepares prescription labels or patient information forms; Removes dispensed drug from inventory; Counts, measures, or compounds drugs to be dispensed; Packages / repackages and labels drugs to be dispensed; Stocks or loads automated dispensing devices or other devices in the dispensing process. Performs any other task restricted to pharmacy technicians by the Board's regulations. Requires Registration as a Pharmacy technician through the Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer 2 to 3 years prior pharmacy technician experience

Prefer 1 to 2 years of prior experience in a psychiatric facility

Knowledgeable of and complies with laws, rules and regulations that govern the practice of pharmacy

Ability to set priorities, meets deadlines, solves problems and adapts to changes within the work environment

An aptitude for working with other health care professionals

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

High school diploma or equivalent; Graduate from an approved Pharmacy Technician program and holds a current Certification from the Virginia Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
