REVS Residential Appraisal Reviewer - Remote

Job Summary: This role is within the Credit Department under the Real Estate Valuation Services (REVS) division at Veritex Community Bank, reporting to the Chief Residential Appraiser. The REVS division handles all real estate appraisals, environmental assessments, equipment appraisals, and business validation services essential for the credit decision-making process in underwriting collateral for loans.

Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Monitor and maintain timely processing of all residential appraisal requests through RIMS (Real Estate Information Management System by Exactbid (aka Lightbox)).
  • Review all requests and provided documents for consistency and follow up with lenders for additional documentation required.
  • Ensure the appraisal review includes a thorough analysis of the appraisal report for reasonable assumptions, appropriate technical analysis, current market conditions, and ensures compliance with USPAP, FIRREA and Bank Policy.
  • Maintain scoring records of each Appraisal Service Provider in RIMS.
  • Provide evidence of review with relevant comments regarding validity of conclusions, adequacy of due diligence, etc. Also, provide an in-depth analysis of the appraisal that will help underwriters make sound judgment decisions regarding the collateral aspect of the loan and ultimately limit collateral risk.
  • Respond to valuation questions and disseminate valuation guidelines and requirements with internal/external customers.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA), the Appraiser Independence Requirements (AIR) and company valuation guidelines that are pertinent to the appraisal review process.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Approved Appraisers while monitoring appraisal orders, value dispute request, and status inquiries.
  • Act as liaison between appraisers, lenders, and underwriters.
  • Provide case-by-case training for lending staff on how to accurately describe collateral.
  • Attend all in-person and remote meetings and business phone calls as requested.
  • Maintain Bank Compliance educational requirements.
  • Responsible for successful use and maintenance of Bank assigned Equipment.
  • Understands the bank's overall risk appetite and how your specific department and individual job responsibilities align with the effective management of bank risk.



Job Skills and Qualifications:




  • Four-year College Degree preferably with an emphasis in Real Estate, and/or Finance
  • Texas State General or Residential Certification
  • SRA Designation (optional)
  • FHA Approved Appraiser - past or present
  • Minimum of Five years of residential appraisal and/or review experience
  • Minimum of Five years of real estate appraisal experience in both traditional and/or investment bank environments.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of real estate appraisal.
  • Ability to recognize and interpret real estate sales/rental data and market trends.
  • Ability to utilize data resources and internet services to evaluate appraisal value conclusions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and clients at the same time.
  • Ability to think autonomously while exhibiting initiative and sound judgement to address issues relating to the appraisal and make appropriate recommendations as they relate to risk.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, including written and oral.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating within a team setting.
  • Strong computer software skills, including knowledge of RIMS (Real Estate Information Management System) or equivalent ordering system such as FNC (CoreLogic) aka CMS or Mercury.
