Overview

The IT Development Program Manager will be responsible for the operational management and continuous improvement of IT-focused development programs, which include a rotational program for early-career professionals, a mentorship program for employees, and the annual IT summer internship program. This role serves as the primary liaison between IT department leads, program participants, HR, and the IT Development Program Sponsor, working to align these programs with broader talent development goals and business objectives. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of IT development programs, including Early Career Program rotations, mentorship, and IT internships, ensuring they align with organizational strategy and career development goals in partnership with Talent Development Partners. Act as single point of contact for any program-related issues, opportunities, or ongoing execution, enabling positive experiences for all participants.
  • Primary liaison between HR, Talent Acquisition, and Talent Development pertaining to IT Leadership & IT Development Programs; enable streamlined communication channels between all involved teams and stakeholders. Attend relevant HR staff and leadership development meetings to align efforts across verticals. Establish and maintain partnerships with IT functional leaders and Talent Development to prevent duplicative efforts and align to Selective's overall talent strategy and the IT Program Sponsor's vision/strategy for program offerings. Work with business areas to schedule experiential learning activities for ECPs, interns, mentors, and mentees. Develop collaborative relationships with current and potential program participants.
  • Coaches, mentors, and supports continual professional development of program participants. Makes personnel recommendations to ensure proper and optimum contribution of individuals to benefit company results. Partner with Early Career Program Manager and Training Program Leaders to research new learning techniques and suggest enhancements to existing learning programs.
  • Gather, analyze, and implement both quantitative and qualitative feedback from program participants, mentors, managers, and other stakeholders to continuously improve program effectiveness. Partner with the IT Development Program Sponsor to evolve program strategy and roadmap, ensuring program relevance, efficiency, and alignment with evolving talent and business needs. Manages, directs, and participates in organizational initiatives with a learning component, providing recommendations and assistance as needed.
  • Define and track program success metrics, such as participant retention rates, conversion rates to full-time positions, engagement levels, and efficacy of implemented feedback mechanisms. Regularly report findings to IT Program Sponsor and HR leadership to demonstrate program impact and identify opportunities to improve. Conduct market research to ensure program offerings align with industry standards to measure competitiveness and overall appeal.
  • Collaborate with HR, hiring managers, and Early Career Program Manager to support the annual recruitment cycle for rotational and internship programs, including interview scheduling, candidate communications, and onboarding activities. Coordinate with host departments to facilitate / enable smooth transitions and knowledge transfer for individuals in the rotational program.
  • Provide logistical support for program-related events, including orientations, networking sessions, career development workshops, and mentorship meetups, ensuring smooth execution. Plan, schedule, and attend program kickoffs, occasionally traveling to Selective's regional offices to support program participants during rotational events. Attend seminars/conferences and participate in educational organizations to benchmark and develop best in class learning processes and services. Track program spend and identify opportunities to enhance program offerings and events within annual budgetary constraints.
  • Partner with Transformation Office and HR to update and maintain job descriptions in alignment with product-based operating model transformation / structure, establish and execute ongoing communication strategy for TMO, and drive additional portfolio-level activities in support of ongoing operating model transformation.
  • Travel represents approximately 5% of employee's time.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively partner with stakeholders across multiple departments.
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while delivering high-quality results.
    Analytical mindset with experience in defining and measuring success metrics, as well as collecting and leveraging feedback for continuous improvement.
    Exceptional knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    Understands capabilities of online learning tools; including authoring tools, Learning Management System, web-conferencing.
    Strong consulting skills to identify learning needs and solutions.
    Strong business acumen and communication (verbal and written) skills.
    Flexible and adaptable with strong follow through skills.
    Detail oriented with strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize.
    Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing. Must have the ability to travel.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in program management, HR, or talent development, with a focus on IT or technical development programs preferred. Experience managing rotational programs, internships, or mentorship initiatives is highly desirable.
