BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT STAFF ASSISTANT OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS 911 Operations Number of Positions: 1 Starting Salary: $66,612.00 This position is open to current AFSCME BIDDERS AND the PUBLIC. Only current City employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4, & 5 are considered BIDDERS and are eligible to bid. Under direction, assists in the performance of specialized administrative support duties, and develops and implements management methods to improve organizational performance; and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Uses Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word to organize employee information * Handles sensitive information for Police and Fire operations personnel * Files * Corresponds with the Department of Human Resources via email and telephone regarding FMLA approval, certifications, and usage * Processes FMLA misuse and re-certification forms * Processes FMLA payroll entries using the city's CATA processing system * Reviews and analyzes departmental policies and procedures such as recording keeping methods, personnel requirements and performance standards, to increase operating efficiency * Develops, implements and monitors departmental policies and procedures * Coordinates and provides administrative support in departmental operations * Develops plans for long-term organizational goals * Plans and coordinates management activities to ensure the efficient operation of the executive office * Communicates critical matters to appropriate departmental staff * Acts a liaison for management at meetings, committees and field assignments as needed * Uses a personal computer or related office equipment to prepare reports and correspondence on departmental operations
RELATED DUTIES * Develops standards and necessary controls to ensure that major departmental plans, policies and procedures are executed Additional duties may be required for this position.
