Great Hill is seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Virtualization Systems Engineerto support large-scale enterprise datacenters encompassing over 3,000 virtual machines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a VMware-based infrastructure and associated storage systems in a government environment. This position requires deep expertise in virtualization technologies and a strong commitment to supporting mission-critical systems. This position also places strong emphasis onproactive monitoring, compliance and automation to ensure performance, availability, and security across classified and unclassified enclaves.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Design and architect secure VMware vSphere environments leveraging converged and hyperconverged platforms (e.g., VxRail)
* Deploy, operate, and maintain virtual infrastructure and network virtualization (NSX-T)
* Manage and monitor performance, capacity, and availability using VMware Aria Operations (formerly vRealize), vCenter alerts, and third-party tools
* Maintain compliance with DoD STIGs and Zero Trust principles across all virtual platforms
* Implement and manage VM lifecycle, including provisioning, backups, replication, and decommissioning
* Ensure environment observability and health with proactive alerting and trend analysis
* Lead root cause analysis for incidents and develop preventive measures
* Document and maintain logical and physical diagrams, SOPs, and system baselines
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, security, cloud) to deliver integrated solutions
* Manage infrastructure patching, hardening, and firmware updates in coordination with cybersecurity requirements
* Develop future-state roadmaps for virtualization modernization, including automation and cloud integration
* Support on-call rotation for 24/7 mission-critical operations

Basic Qualifications:

* 5-7 years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere 7.x or 8.x, including vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN
* Strong understanding of Dell Power EDGE and Cisco M220, including HCI architecture, deployment, and troubleshooting
* Experience with VM monitoring platforms (e.g., Aria Operations, SolarWinds, Zabbix, Dynatrace, or similar)
* Strong grasp of P2V migrations, snapshot and backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning
* Familiarity with DoD STIGs and infrastructure hardening practices
* Experience in large-scale datacenter operations and virtualization performance tuning
* Active DoD Top Secret clearance (or Secret with ability to upgrade)
* Working knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking (Cisco), VLANs, vSwitches, and NSX

Desired Skills:

* VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher
* Experience with VMware Aria Suite (Operations, Automation)
* Knowledge of Nutanix or Red Hat Virtualization
* Hands-on scripting experience using PowerShell, PowerCLI, or Ansible
* Familiarity with hybrid cloud models, especially VMware Cloud on AWS or Azure VMware Solution

Salary at Seneca is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The range of this position in other geographic locations may differ. The projected compensation range for this position is below. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.

$120,000 $140,000 USD
