The basics of this position:

***This is an onsite position located in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Candidates should apply only if they are able to be physically present and available to work onsite by the start date***
In search of DAY time adjunct faculty to teach introductory and college-level Reading courses. This posting is to create a STLCC District Wide pool of applicants for potential openings for various academic semesters throughout the year. We are primarily searching for adjunct faculty to teach face to face daytime classes on campus. However, with additional required training, there may be future opportunities to teach Hybrid, Online and Live Virtual Lecture courses.

What you'll do:



  • This adjunct faculty member will teach introductory reading college preparations classes to various student populations. The faculty member will maintain accurate records, provide student feedback and conferences, hold required office hours and work collaboratively with the English and Reading Department to promote the goals of STLCC. Other opportunities for adjunct faculty may include committee work, ability to teach a flexible schedule, advising and/or mentoring students, and participation in the intellectual life of the department and college.


Education, experience, and other requirements:

Master's degree in subject area or a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Reading, and relevant post-secondary teaching experience including the teaching of reading. Applicants will be asked to complete additional training to teach Live Virtual Lecture, hybrid and online.

Preferred Qualifications:

Commitment to technology in instruction; experience with unique learners; knowledge of current adult learning theories; prefer two years teaching experience at secondary or post-secondary levels; mentoring developmental, alternative learners; and the ability to effectively employ and interpret diagnostic techniques.
