VP, Underwriting Leader Property

  • Location: USA - Fl - Miami
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid
  • The salary range for this role is:$180,000 - $270,000

The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to lead and manage profitable underwriting operations for multiple lines of business, ensuring strategic growth, adherence to quality metrics, and alignment with organizational profitability objectives. Additionally, the role involves providing high-quality specialist engineering support to various stakeholders by overseeing internal and external engineering services.

Your new role:

  • Lead and manage the underwriting team for assigned line(s) of business to ensure risk quality and proper insurance to value.
  • Drive standardization of underwriting by defining risk assessment parameters and setting quality service standards.
  • Foster a collaborative approach to growing the business by identifying profit and loss trends and developing strategic portfolio growth initiatives.
  • Capitalize on opportunities for continuous improvement by reviewing reports on loss ratios and implementing innovative underwriting strategies.
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships by leading the delivery of training and informing on risk exposure decision-making processes.
  • Develop sustainable underwriting operations to align with long-range business growth objectives.
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures and accurately forecasting resource needs/costs.
  • Contribute to underwriting strategy through the development of engineering deliverables and activities.
  • Establish and maintain a robust engineering risk management framework.
  • Network with other areas of the organization to share best practices and ensure consistency in processes.

Work Experience:

Necessary Work Experience includes:

  • Significant relevant experience.

Preferred Work Experience includes:

  • Participation in industry events supporting continuous education and technical proficiency in underwriting.
  • Extensive underwriting experience including managing or leading teams and increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Moderate experience working for Energy Underwriters or Brokers.
  • Significant exposure to international energy facilities.
  • Significant experience in design, operations, maintenance, and process safety management of oil, gas, and petrochemical facilities.

Qualifications:

Necessary Qualifications include:

  • Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate's professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE's annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
