This position provides pivotal operations support for the Learning and Organizational Development department in central Human Resources. As the initial point of contact for customers accessing the unit's services, this position independently responds with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy through verbal and/or written communication to a variety of inquiries. Operations Assistant provides frontline support to customers, both learners and instructors, through tickets in the department ticketing system (Service Now) as well as phone support.
Provides technical and customer support for users accessing the UC Learning Center, UC Davis' Learning Management System. Assists L&OD Operations in the administration of the UCLC and provides operations support to execute on-site and virtual training courses, programs, and events.

Minimum Qualifications

- No minimum education required
- Extensive experience using word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring, design, web development and database management programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, to manage and manipulate data and generate complex reports, among other tasks.
- Experience with Human Resources or another setting working with secure information guided by policies and procedures.
- Ability to work on detail-oriented tasks with frequent interruptions, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks, establishing goals, organizing projects, and meeting deadlines.
- Highly-developed customer service and business writing skills and a commitment to inclusive, trust-building communication with customers.
- Ability to disseminate information and provide assistance to the appropriate target audience in person, by phone, and through writing, including technical and systems support.
- Ability to learn complex technical information quickly and align to established department processes.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to anticipate and identify issues, evaluate information, analyze trends, and propose actions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting training and development units in a higher education, healthcare, or non-profit setting.
- Experience using case management for technical customer support, such as Service Now.
- Knowledge of content management systems for web development.
- Ability to produce professional copy for websites, communications, and promotional materials.

L&OD is responsible for administering the UC Learning Center, an enterprise-wide Learning Management System utilized for management of Learning and Organizational Development activities for UC Davis' more than 35,000 employees.

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Variable working hours between 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. depending on daily event schedule. Regular travel by foot or vehicle to transport supplies and materials to various locations on the main campus in Davis. Regular travel to classroom sites in Sacramento and Rancho Cordova to support offsite trainings. Valid California Driver's license required to transport supplies to and from other campus locations. Will include occasional travel to Sacramento campus and Rancho Cordova office. Occasional overtime to meet business needs.
