Posting Summary	Rutgers School of Health Professions ( SHP) is seeking a highly motivated Student Assistant to work within the Toosizadeh Lab in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences. In this role, the Student Assistant will work on translational projects at the intersection of biomechanics, frailty and cognitive impairment assessment, and machine learning. Within this research program, the goal is to address the critical aging research questions: Can a dynamic stress-response model of physiological systems using a sub-maximal stress test replicate the results of real-life stress (such as invasive therapies)? Can, and to what extent, considering multiple physiological systems and interactions between them explain cognitive impairment in older adults using the stress-response model? To support this work, an important component of this position will be to work as part of an interdisciplinary team spanning across colleges of engineering, medicine, and science. In addition, the Student Assistant will be required to lead independent research projects, work closely with medical collaborators and other students, and publish high-quality research each year. Work will take place at one of two allocated locations based on requirements: Newark and/or New Brunswick/Piscataway Campuses. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Conduct research in the area of aging, cognitive frailty, and biomechanics. Data collection from hospitals: Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick and/or University Hospital in Newark Data Post-processing Programming (using MATLAB or Python) Publish journal articles. Presentation of research at national and international conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Must be a current Rutgers Student.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities	Basic knowledge of MATLAB, Python, or similar programming skills. Excellent written and oral English language skills.
Preferred Qualifications	BS in computer science, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline (students in public health, nursing, and physician assistant are also encouraged to apply) preferred. Experience in Machine Learning, human performance analysis, wearable sensors, fMRI, fNIRS, and/or ECG, preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment	PHYSICAL DEMANDS: N/A WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab and hospitals. There are two data collection locations including Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick and/or University Hospital in Newark. Lab space is also available for data post-processing in each campus.
Special Conditions	Position requires working on the Newark and Piscataway campus.
