The Product Manager - Separation is responsible for developing and executing product strategy, lifecycle management, and supporting marketing initiatives for Zurn Elkay's Separation product lines (grease/oil interceptors and SmartPro Monitoring System). This includes full responsibility for the assigned product portfolio throughout its lifecycle, from gathering and prioritizing product, specifier, and customer requirements, to defining the product vision and roadmap, and working closely with engineering to deliver winning and competitive solutions. This role will collaborate extensively with the Category Director - Separation, Sales, Product Marketing, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure revenue, margin, market share, and customer satisfaction goals are met for the Separation category.

This role is located in Erie, PA and will report to the Category Director - Separation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Analyze separation category product performance, grease interceptor market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies; develop and execute product strategies based on robust research and analysis. This includes collecting and maintaining Voice of Customer (VOC) from specifiers, contractors, and end-users, competitive intelligence, and key product attributes for interceptors.

  • Support the Product Lifecycle Management Process (PLCM) for the Separation category to define product strategy, create and manage the product development roadmap, and execute portfolio simplification/rationalization (80/20) efforts.

  • Collaborate with the Category Director and Product Marketing to develop and refine the core positioning, value proposition, and messaging for the Separation product portfolio.

  • Member of product management team responsible for pricing strategy and tactics to meet revenue and profitability goals, in collaboration with commercial sales team.

  • Serve as the primary product interface with NPD/Engineering resources, translating market and customer requirements into clear technical specifications for new separation products and product enhancements.

  • Become the primary technical product expert for the Separation category, with deep knowledge of grease interceptors, sizing methodologies, relevant plumbing codes (PDI, UPC/IPC), materials, applications, part numbers, configurations, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, and Zurn Elkay service center teams to execute portfolio simplification strategies for interceptors. This includes providing clear guidance on inventory transitions, product demand forecasting for separation products, managing cross-reference guides, and supporting ERP changes.

  • Utilize Zurn Elkay Business System (ZEBS) for effective process development, problem-solving, and countermeasure activities related to the Separation product category.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Engineering required, MBA preferred.

  • Preferred 5 - 8 years' experience in product management, marketing or engineering functions

  • Experience within the Plumbing market or related market segment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to contribute to the success of teams in a cross-functional, matrixed environment

  • Must be able to travel 25 - 40% of the time
