The Office Clerk- Utilization Clerk performs the process of the coordination of care at the time of discharge in order to maintain continuity of care for each of the patietns assigned, under the direct supervision of the deparment Director or disignee.

PRIMARY CRITERIA/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Daily process of coordination of care provided for the Medi-Cal Clinets: including data collection; uploading of required documents to the Department of Mental Health Portal; reconcilliation of missing documents, and provision of timely discharge information.
  2. Manages utilization review data and information flow.
  3. Works closely with the Business Office to ensure the Medi-Cal cases can be billed effectively.
  4. Ensures the appropriate external parties are notified and provided with the necessary documentation for the continuity of care.
  5. Always safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patients identifiable information in accordance with hopsital and department policy.
  6. Always confirms questionable releases with Director/Designee (i.e. Risk Manage, CEO, etc.)
  7. Collaborates with hopsital personnel and medical staff to ensure opitmal patient care.
  8. Assumes and/or performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Must be able to type accurately and have basic clerical training, which includes computer skills, basic filing skills and fundamental knowledge of office procedures.
  • Must be able to perform assignments with minimal suprvision.
  • Must be able to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations.
  • Must be able to work successfully under highly stress conditions.
  • Must be able to make sound, indepenedent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles.
  • Must be albe to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.
  • Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads an work assignments on a constant basis.
  • Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communicaiton skills, written and verbal.
