JOB SUMMARY

Works under general direction the Operations Manager to provide administrative supervision for operation of Student Stores, Storekeepers and cashiers. Reports directly to Operations Manager of Student stores.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience

  • 3 years in retail sales and/or merchandising, including one (1) year in a supervisor/lead capacity.

    May consider additional years of experience in lieu of education.
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • (DRIVERS) DRIVERS LICENSE - Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver License with a clean driving history to utilize a university vehicle for transporting/delivery of goods between stores. Upon Hire

JOB DUTIES
  • Assists the Operation Manager with Strategic planning, organizational design, store layout, customer service, budget, planning, analysis and compliance with inventory controls. Understanding the retail needs of the University Community, Medical School, staff, Alumni, visitors and parents. Selects and purchases merchandise for sale in Student Store, locating sources, obtaining price quotes and preparing and signing purchase orders.
  • Consults with faculty members and student body representatives to determine variety and scope of merchandise, medical instruments and equipment needed for individuals and departments.
  • Supervises and participate s in receiving, marking, and storing merchandise, and ensures that merchandise is removed from storeroom on first-in, first-out basis as much as possible to minimize obsolescence or deterioration.
  • Determines utilization of available floor and shelf space and arrangement and displays for sale.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with vendors in order to obtain best prices, locate special items for individuals and departments, ensure timely deliveries, and obtain credit for returned merchandise.
  • Maintains current and accurate records of receipts and disbursements reconciling accounts payable for monthly financial reports and approving bills for payment.
  • May prepare monthly sales reports and profit and loss statements. May analyze monthly accounting reports comparing estimated with actual income.
  • May assist in preparation of annual budget.
  • May plan special sales and sales promotions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
