Job Description
The Office Assistant provides administrative and clerical support for the Offices of Accessibility and Student Wellbeing ( OSW), including assisting students and providing customer service for in-person visitors and by phone.

Duties include preparing and distributing a variety of documents; data entry; establishing and maintaining files; assisting with purchase requisitions, budget records, meeting arrangements, and other support tasks; receives visitors and telephone calls, schedules appointments, and provides general information in response to inquiries; managing bulletin boards content; reporting building issues to the building manager; and performing other duties as assigned.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.
Required Education
A high school diploma or GED
Required Experience
At least two (2) years of experience working in an administrative and or office support role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proficiency in a Windows-based environment, including Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); intermediate Excel skills required (e.g., data filtering, and basic analysis)
  • Experience using Adobe Sign for document management and signature workflows
  • Familiarity with Simplicity Accommodate or similar scheduling and case management software
  • Strong front-line customer service skills and ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain processes and requirements to students and families
  • Ability to screen documents, tracking student registration tasks, and monitor faculty accommodation memos
  • Comfort performing initial intakes and scheduling appointments for mental health counseling and other support services
  • Ability to provide administrative support for multiple departments and assist with event planning and coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Banner or other Student Information System or large database; and experience with Argos or other reporting program are preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of recent experience working in a role with direct progressive responsibility for providing primary and comprehensive administrative and office support to someone in a leadership level position.

Hours per Week 20
General Weekly Work Schedule
20 hours per week, scheduled Monday through Friday; final work schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
