WSECU is looking for a collaborative leader who will provide oversight and strategic direction for all aspects of WSECU's Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Small Business lending and servicing activities. This person is responsible for the member borrowing experience, along with the execution of the Credit Union's risk strategy through underwriting, and oversight of all commercial and small business loan servicing. The Vice President of Business Lending provides oversight, strategic direction and responsibility for the commercial and small business borrowing experience and for all aspects of WSECU's commercial and small business lending activities. This includes the Commercial Sales Team, Credit Administration, Small Business Sales & Operation, and Servicing of these portfolios. The Vice President will drive commercial and small business lending origination strategies and business plans with the support of direct reports, who will manage the day-to-day operations and delivery of service in each department. As the VP of Business Lending, your day might include:
- Developing and overseeing implementation of the annual Commercial and Small Business Lending Strategy and Business Plan
- Overseeing productivity and workflow efficiencies of all commercial and small business lending programs and back-office lending operations
- Ensuring achievement of service level standards, specifically Voice of Member and Co-worker Surveys
- Developing and implementing lending policies and underwriting guidelines to ensure quality and integrity of loan portfolio
- Recommending new products and pricing strategies in all areas of commercial and small business lending to meet current and future member needs. Managing product margins while maintaining the quality of the loan portfolio, and continually assessing the organization's credit risk, concentration limits, and liquidity
- Maintaining knowledge of the commercial and small business lending landscape to ensure WSECU's lending programs remain relevant
- Assuring compliance with state and federal laws
- Providing strong leadership to managers in each area of responsibility through regular coaching, evaluations, employee development and training
- Recommending and overseeing related budgeting of revenue, expense and production projections
- Working with the Marketing Department to drive results toward meeting production goals
- Working collaboratively with all areas of the credit union and external business partners to accomplish strategic goals and ensure the appropriate levels of compliance and service
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field with at least five (5) years of successful, well-rounded management experience in a financial institution in all aspects of lending. MBA is highly desirable
- Ten (10) years of experience in commercial real estate lending, small business lending, Small Business Administration (SBA), credit administration and underwriting
- Technically proficient in credit analysis, financial statements, underwriting criteria and risk scoring
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to drive high quality loan growth through lending products, delivery channels and superior member service
- Experience leading teams responsible for small business services (i.e. Payroll Services, ACH, Sweep Accounts, Merchant Services, etc.)
- Up-to-date knowledge of evolving technology, automation, industry trends, state and federal regulations pertaining to commercial and small business loans
- Proficiency in PC software, including Microsoft programs and standard lending systems and the ability to learn credit union-specific operating systems and programs
- Budgeting and strong presentation experience
Competitive Base Pay: $161,434.11 - $269,056.86 annually, dependent on relevant qualifications, plus an annual discretionary incentive plan and benefits package.
- The target starting pay for this position is $161,434.11 - $215,245.48 annually, typically within thefirst half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant's pay history into account.
- The range above allows our employees room for growth through annual merit and other pay increase during their tenure in the position.
Where we're located: 330 Union Ave, Olympia WA. Employee must reside and perform all work in the state of Washington. This is a hybrid position that blends working in-office and from home. Works onsite at least 2 occasions per week. When you'd work: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, full time minimum 40 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility to meet service needs for this Exempt position Working from home/hybrid requirements:
