Payments Risk Governance Manager

4900 Tiedeman Road - Brooklyn, Ohio 44144-2302 About the Job Reporting to the Senior Director, Payments Risk Oversight, this 2nd Line of Defense role will be responsible for leading oversight of risk management activities related to payments risk, performing review and challenge of 1LOD payment programs, and managing governance for payments risk policies and standards ("Policy & Standards"), payments risk training, and applicable risk committee reporting (e.g., risk metrics). This role will collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure the Policy & Standards define, support, and maintain the foundation for the management of the Key's payment risk across all payment products and services by defining clear roles and responsibilities, promoting awareness and accountability for payment risk, and driving alignment with the Key values and risk tolerances. This role is also responsible for developing, implementing, and managing aggregated reporting, providing organizational visibility to payments risk activities, metrics, and reportable items across the organization, comprehensive of both Commercial and Consumer Payments. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to promote adherence the Policy & Standards.
  • Work and consult with applicable business lines and risk pillars to perform periodic (at least annually), leading reviews of the Policy & Standards to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in guiding payments activities in alignment with other Key policies (e.g., Operational Risk Policy, Compliance Policy, Credit Policies, and Enterprise Risk Management Policy) and regulatory guidance.
  • Collaborate with Compliance teams and related risk pillars as needed to validate that the Policy & Standards address applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for Policy & Standards updates, including sections of the Policy & Standards that have become out of date.
  • Lead the timely creation and distribution of communications announcing updates to the Policy and Standards, ensuring the Policy & Standards reflect appropriate expectations and guidance.
  • Assist in the development of other key policies, standards and procedures related to payments and assist in the review of and updates to other Key policies, standards and procedures driving alignment with the Policy & Standards.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of 2LOD training to support payments risk oversight and assist in the review, update, and enhancement of relevant training programs.
  • Participate in, support, and where needed, lead payments risk related projects, initiatives, working groups or other tasks as assigned to meet team objectives.
  • Actively participate in the robust review and challenge process with applicable businesses and risk pillars, providing authoritative and consultative advice and support to management and employees utilizing independence yet providing pro-business solutions.
  • Perform risk data analysis and develop reporting for risk committees as requested, including developing relevant and measurable key risk indicators and early warning indicators to support payments risk oversight.
  • Assist in the development of metrics, standards, procedures, and reporting to support payments risk governance monitoring processes and assist in the review, update, and enhancement of relevant risk management policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Effectively and professionally interact with management, regulatory agency personnel, internal legal counsel, RRG personnel as well as peers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant industry and professional experience (e.g., payments, operational risk management or audit) with a strong focus on governance programs and policy management.
  • Able to work independently and use sound judgment taking into consideration risk tolerances of the corresponding line of business and KeyCorp overall.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate awareness of current industry issues, trends and practices
  • Ability to act resourcefully, leverage contacts to maintain internal network, work independently and interface with executive management, line of business partners, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Experience working/managing projects across multiple functional areas and dealing with multiple business partners.
  • Experience working on initiatives that require strategic planning/thinking.
  • Flexibility to switch priorities based on the needs of the company in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and results oriented; able to make decisions independently.
  • Proven ability to work as a team. Strong leadership skills and ability to influence others and lead up and across the organization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to lines of businesses and senior management, both in writing and verbally.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven to be a proactive partner, strategic thinker, and collaborator.
  • Proficient PC skills with experience in Microsoft Office, Outlook and SharePoint.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of 118,000 to $150,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
