This position supports the Core Value of Safety & Health and the 200% Accountability for safety within Meijer. This position will primarily support the management and oversight of the Meijer Fire Safety and Suppression programs.
What You'll be Doing:
  • Ensure corporate compliance with laws and regulations related to fire suppression, fire safety, and alarms.

  • Partner with Legal to respond to regulatory body inquiries and activity.

  • Collaborate with internal & external partners to enhance and sustain a best-in-class fire safety strategy.

  • Work with our vendors and properties teams to design and construct systems for new sites and remodels.

  • Ensure open projects are completed in a timely manner while controlling costs and keeping stakeholders informed.

  • Develop and lead training related to fire safety.

  • Partner with corporate and field leadership teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.

  • Travel outside of corporate office as needed (Up to 25%).

  • Act as the enterprise subject matter expert on fire prevention, suppression, and alarm monitoring.

What You'll Bring with You:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent safety or fire related experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Fire Safety and Alarms.

  • CSP/ASP Preferred.

  • Expertise with Federal and State OSHA plans.

  • Expertise in NFPA codes and compliance preferred.

  • Ability to lead projects and programs.

  • Ability to interpret local, state, and federal regulations and determine business applications.

  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships to accomplish objectives.
