PRINCIPAL PRODUCT MANAGER
The Product Development job family's function is to support the full lifecycle of Comerica's products from inception to the complete implementation of the product through various distribution channels. Individuals in these roles focus on product requirements, customer experience design, deployment planning and product strategies working closely with stakeholders in Technology and the lines of business.
For Product Designer roles in this job family, this includes the consultation with Business Partners and Technology teams to solicit and document requirements which lead to the successful design and deployment of new or enhanced products.
For Product Delivery Manager roles, this includes:


  • Understanding the needs of business partners and the strategic direction of the organization and leading efforts to deliver a technology-based Product to meet those needs.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to set the Product Vision and establish a Product Roadmap
    identifying the planned introduction of new Product capabilities.
  • Working with business and Technology stakeholders and teams to continuously deliver new capabilities to establish, grow and mature Comerica's Product offerings.


A Product Delivery Manager will have significant ownership of the ultimate success of assigned product offerings throughout their managed life cycle.
Individual Contributor role reporting to a Senior Manager - Product Delivery Interfaces with Technology and Business Partners across the Enterprise at various management levels. Supports the development of the annual budget from a Product perspective Supports the Senior Manager - Product Delivery efforts to manage delivery and operations to the Annual Plan at a Product level. Responsible for a scope of significant size critical to the department's and Product's success. Manages activities of a complex nature where there are limited precedents available. Decisions have a large impact on the Product and related organizations. Delivery Managers work primarily from Comerica's southeastern Michigan locations. Limited domestic travel (less than 20%) may be required to meet with stakeholders on a sporadic basis.
Position Responsibilities:
Delivery Excellence


  • Provides strategic management of the overall Product program, ensuring that
    release schedules are met and risks managed.
  • Leads a collaborative, dynamic Product planning process prioritizing efforts that
    align with Comerica and Technology strategies and provide the best value and outcome
    for the investment.
  • With the delivery team, responsible for developing structured development plans
    that drive Product releases from inception through delivery.
  • Works with Program/Project Management to decompose the Product Vision and
  • Product Roadmap into themes which will be captured in the Product Backlog by the
    Project manager or delivery lead.
  • Working with the technical teams and the business Product Owner, the Product
    Delivery Manager is responsible for driving a Release and Iteration Plan based on the
    Backlog.
  • Consistently exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of budget, scope and schedules.


Strategic Thinking


  • Works with stakeholders to expand product offerings.
  • Monitor current market, and competitive trends to identify opportunities for
    growth.
  • Support new product ideation activities and processes.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and the business Product Owner on overall product strategy.
  • Maintain awareness of Technology strategies and direction to assure the alignment of the product's technologies.
  • Coordinate new product offerings and oversee flow of set up processes within delivery teams.
  • Drives appropriate level of development and operational support throughout a product's phases in the maturity life cycle: introduction, growth, maturity, decline.
  • Negotiates complex arrangements with other teams, service providers, collaborators and suppliers.
  • Develops strategic relationships with suppliers adhering to the tenants of the Corporate Supplier Relationship Management program.


Collaboration


  • Works with the key stakeholders including the business Product Owner to define the Product Vision and Product Roadmap for any given product that considers innovation, customer feedback and market/industry drivers.
  • Motivates colleagues in multiple organizational units to work collaboratively towards common goals
  • Ensures that all team members, including business partners, are working together effectively, are communicating with related teams and are producing quality work, in line with the overall Product vision.
  • Actively participates in the Product Development community, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice.


Communication


  • Maintains communication with stakeholders in Technology and other lines of business to ensure that there is visibility into the Product's direction, schedule, progress and operational status.
  • Key stakeholders are dependent on the Products produced, they must have regular and useful updates to allow them to plan their business activities.
  • Communicates the Product Vision to interested parties and stakeholders. It is important that the businesses understand the solution and can engage to ensure there is successful delivery.
  • Communicates with the technical delivery teams to ensure that they understand
    what is required of them.
  • Product Delivery Managers may work across DevOps and Agile teams and with
    other Product Delivery Managers to deliver and sustain Product solutions.



Position Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or 4 years of relevant experience
  • 6 years of relevant experience in Information Technology, Information Systems or Product Management
  • 5 years of experience in technical business consulting, business analysis or product design
  • 3 years of experience in strategic development


Work Best Category: Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday Salary: To Be Determined Based on Individual Experience
