General Information: Req#: 36088744 Name: Instructional Designer I Client: CMS Energy Start: 06/23/2025 End: 05/03/2027 Description: Department: Gas Skills Training NLbr Job Category: Human Resources / Training Job Title: Instructional Designer I Duties: The Instructional Designer will be expected to design and develop learning experiences in a variety of forms, including interactive eLearn, large-scale training solutions, and blended multi-media instructor-led presentations. In developing learning experiences, the Instructional Designer will determine learning objectives, rewrite content, structure learning activities, and create visual aids for both face-to-face and online interactions. They will work closely with the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the various business units to ensure that all content is responsive to training best practices but also meets all regulatory and legal requirements. This is a contract position. Remote with some travel required as needed. Skills: 1-2 years experience in Instructional Design, eLearn development, or related field. Ability to program interactive asynchronous eLearn experiences, as well as develop synchronous in person scenario-based experiences resulting in high levels of engagement and retention. Ability to translate complex, multi-step processes into easy to understand, digestible training. Ability to manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines and/or adapting to evolving business needs. Develop storyboards, scheduling production activity, conducting research and assuring an overall production schedule is maintained. Strong portfolio demonstrating attention to detail, an effective implementation of principles of design and adult learning pedagogy, with professionally appealing visuals and layout is a requirement for consideration. Required Skills: Proven proficiency in: eLearn authoring tools, including Articulate Storyline (preferred) Adobe Captivate MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Photoshop would set you apart Keywords: Education: Preferred: * 2-4 yrs experience in instructional design and project management. * Experience in designing and developing learning. Experience can be substituted in lieu of formal education. Location: Jackson, MI CMS Energy Corporate Headquarters (OEP), One Energy Plaza *Skills* Articulate storyline, Camtasia, E-learning, Training development, Adobe captivate, Instructional design, Development, Curriculum development, Adult learning, Adobe *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Skills: *Advanced and skilled communicator *Ability to influence high-level stakeholder audiences in extreme impact situations *Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, with a heavy emphasis on PowerPoint and presentation creation *Graphic design, photography and videography knowledge and understanding (Adobe Creative Suite) *Ghost writing for executives and creative storytelling proficiency with ability to craft stories and utilize tools to produce visuals *Experience and comfort working in c-level executive environment *Able to think creatively and translate complex ideas and thoughts into concepts and terms that can easily be understood *Self-initiator and empowered, ability to work with minimal details or requirements, within a wide degree of creativity and latitude, and produce high quality results *Ability to work within a deadline-driven environment requiring high degree of professionalism, discretion and organization skills *Exemplify agility to be able to quickly shift priorities easily and effectively *Ability to work in a collaborative environment, by encouraging trust, mutual respect, and a shared purpose among team members and across the organization *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
