Job Summary

Leads research communications program managers in providing technical communications services to research units, ensuring that priorities and projects across units align with those at the institute level and are consistent with Georgia Institute of Technology's best practices and strategic priorities. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.This position will interact on a consistent basis with: directors, management, faculty, staff, and stakeholders. This position typically will advise and counsel: directors, management, faculty, staff, and stakeholders. This position will supervise: research communications program managers.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Lead and manage a team of research communications program managers and evaluate projects for strategic goals.

Job Duty 2 -
Provide backup and additional support for research communications efforts within units.

Job Duty 3 -
Manage and actively support special projects.

Job Duty 4 -
Organize and operate research communicators' network.

Job Duty 5 -
Ensure unit communications efforts are cohesive and consistent with Institute goals.

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Five to seven years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Significant experience in both communications project management and management of creative services staff in a distributed organization in which staff are housed with research units in non-contiguous locations across campus. Successful candidate will manage several staff members who are providing a similar set of services to one or more research units. These services may differ from unit to unit depending on unit communications plans and audiences served. Experience in team-building and developing collaborations with other campus units helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

- 10-12 years of professional experience
- 5-7 years experience managing team of creative services (designers,
photographers, videographers), and project management professionals
- Preferred Master's degree in communications, marketing, graphic design
- Marketing and advertising campaign planning and implementation
- Design experience and utilizing Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience leading special events, including planning and execution of
tradeshows
- Knowledge and experience with project management principles, systems
and software
- PMP certification preferred but not required

Anticipated annual salary $96,210.00 to $130,846.00 commensurate with qualifications
