JOB SUMMARY |
The Machinist 1 will proficiently fabricate parts from ferrous and non-ferrous materials, sheet, plate and structural steels. Utilizing the machines required in a safe and effective manner, while abiding by company productivity, quality and safety standards |
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Fabricating parts
- Inspecting parts for quality
- Reviewing and interpreting drawings
- Interface with Managers of Operations, Engineering and Sales to resolve design or functionality issues. Purchasing Manager for material and tool procurement. Department Supervisors to coordinate and plan day-to-day product flow. Customers during quality audits, customer visits, and resolution of quality related problems
- Must develop a good understanding of company quality standards
- Must be able to provide accurate "time required" estimates
- Must be a team player

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
- Basic measuring tools (i.e. calipers, scale, protractor, micrometer, radius gauges and other dimensional scales).
- Blueprints and Mechanical drawings.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic shop tools and machines such as; Grinders, Sanders, Polishers, Drill Press, Band Saw, Electric Hack Saw, Radial Arm Saw, Hydraulic and Manual Press, Tumbler, Parts Washers and Sand Blaster.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Time management.
- Maintaining acceptable production rate while not sacrificing quality of work.
- Meeting customer and company quality standards.
- Minimizing rework and scrap.
- Optimizing setup time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- 1 year experience operating tools, machines and devices
- High School Diploma or equivalent
