The Senior AV Technician is a member of the Georgetown University Capitol Campus Information Systems Technology Audiovisual and Instructional technology groups. This position oversees the technical operation and maintenance of all audiovisual systems supported by the department at the Law Center. This includes classrooms, and conference rooms in addition to other supported spaces. The position also oversees the exploration, research, purchase, inventory, installation and integration of equipment and services in department supported facilities.

This position requires expert knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of audiovisual systems including lecture capture software, digital and analog audiovisual interfaces, video conferencing hardware/software, and television production equipment. The candidate must be able to manage both small and large AV projects. This position's work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-4:00 pm but must remain flexible throughout the week based on staffing needs. The incumbent must be willing to work overtime, evenings, and weekends if needed.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Oversight of audiovisual equipment within Capitol Campus classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces, and mock trial spaces. To include investigating and troubleshooting issues.
  • Oversee complex system design and integration.
  • Manage advanced troubleshooting, as well as system commissioning and testing.
  • Provide technical documentation and training, acting as a vendor liaison.


Work Interactions
The Senior AV Engineer reports to the Director of Audio Visual of Instructional Technology and engages with senior administrators, staff, faculty, students and vendors. The Senior AV Engineer will need to possess superior communication skills as they may interact with nationally and internationally recognized VIP guests, high level University administration and alumni as well as national and local press in addition to everyday interaction with faculty, staff and students.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or four years of audiovisual experience, preferably from an educational environment.
  • Ability to multitask, often working under stress to complete tasks that require complex set-up and operation.
  • Professional understanding of the following AV technologies: Digital switchers, digital audiovisual systems and computer interfaces, video capturing software, Zoom and other video conferencing systems, digital video and audio editing software, light boards, cloud storage such as Google Apps and Box; generally Mac and PC proficient.
  • Crestron Commercial Technician/Field Engineer Certification
  • TesiraFORTE Certification
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and working from ladders and scaffolding
  • Must have working knowledge of safety equipment: gloves, eye and ear protection, etc.
  • Must be willing to accept flexible hours and overtime.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
